Investment thesis

Outlaw cinema-only thesis

We invest exclusively in genre — B-movies, sci-fi, creature features, westerns, found-footage. A focused slate, a focused audience.

Sub-$3M budgets

Independent outlaw cinema's sweet spot. Lower break-evens, faster paths to profitability, and the format that gave us Mad Max, Night of the Living Dead, and El Mariachi.

Streaming integrated

Every funded film gets a slot on Planet Outlaw. Investors stream what they backed and earn a share of platform revenue.

What is fractional outlaw film investing?

Own a slice of the scream — not just a ticket.

Fractional film investing splits a outlaw film's financing into small, regulated equity stakes — so the audience that lines up for the midnight show can also own the upside.

What it is

A fractional stake is a small, real ownership slice of a outlaw film. Instead of one financier writing a $1M check, hundreds of fans each take a piece — from $25 up. You're on the cap table, not a tip jar.

How it works

Pick a film, pick your stake. If the campaign hits its goal, your pledge converts into fractional equity and the cameras roll. If it doesn't, you owe nothing. When the film earns, you earn pro-rata for the life of the title.

Why it's legal

Every outlaw offering runs through our regulated fractionalization partner under SEC Regulation Crowdfunding. KYC, escrow, disclosures and quarterly statements — the same investor protections as any regulated securities offering.

Investing in film carries real risk. Only invest what you're comfortable losing. See our risk disclosure for full details.

What could it return?

Pick a stake. See what a modest hit looks like.

Outlaw cinema has the best ROI profile in cinema — Paranormal Activity, Saw, The Blair Witch Project all returned hundreds to one. This is the modest case: festival run, streaming deal, regional theatrical. The full model with downside lives below.

The REEL Economy

Every film becomes its own economic system.

Behind every pledge is a two-layer framework — one built for the audience, one built for the system. Together they turn a outlaw film into a structured, participatory asset.

All-or-nothing financing

A project only activates once it's fully funded. No partial budgets, no half-shot productions, no capital deployed until the full stack is in place.

Non-speculative & non-tradable

Your participation is tied to a specific film's real-world performance — not a secondary market. No day-trading, no flipping, no speculation.

Compliant by design

Every offering is structured upfront and managed by our regulated fractionalization partners. Transparent terms, defined allocations, jurisdictional coverage.

Closed-loop economics

Revenue from streaming, licensing, and distribution flows back through the Planet Outlaw platform to participants — for the entire lifecycle of the film.

One film, broken down

A $1.2M creature feature, 24,000 backers, $50 a REEL.

Instead of one financier writing the check, the budget is distributed across thousands of outlaw fans. Once the campaign is fully funded, production begins immediately and distribution on Planet Outlaw is guaranteed. Revenue from streaming, licensing and events flows back through the platform to participants.

Illustrative example. Actual budgets, REEL prices and allocations vary per offering and are disclosed upfront.

How we de-risk every film

Three pillars. Stacked, they cover the budget.

No single source does it alone. Tax credits, streaming licensing and theatrical/MGs each cover roughly a third — combined, the film hits breakeven before release.

Tax credits = 30-40%

Produced in jurisdictions offering 25–40% production tax credits and rebates. Government incentives that directly reduce the recoupable budget.

Streaming licensing = 30-40%

Planet Outlaw's outlaw streaming platform pays out per region. Licensing fees lock in another 30-40% of the budget through guaranteed distribution.

Theatrical & MGs ≈ 30%

Pre-negotiated genre theatrical windows and minimum guarantees in non-streaming territories lock in the final ~30% — contracted in advance, not speculated.

How you get paid back

The recoupment waterfall, in plain English

Returns don't arrive in one cheque. Each revenue window flips a layer of the waterfall — here's the order they hit.

  1. Month 0–6

    Production wraps

Tax credits monetize and return ~30–40% of budget back into the recoupment waterfall before a single ticket sells.

  2. Month 6–12

    Theatrical & MG window

Pre-sold minimum guarantees and limited theatrical drop. First distributions to investors begin once recoupment hits.

  3. Month 12–24

    Streaming + international

Planet Outlaw platform license plus rest-of-world streaming and TVOD. The largest single revenue layer for genre films.

  4. Year 2–5

    Ancillary & long tail

Cable, AVOD, physical media, library re-licensing. Quarterly distributions continue as residuals roll in.

  5. Year 5+

    Library exit (optional)

Slate library sale to a strategic buyer or platform — the upside event that turns modest hits into outsized returns.

$25 → cap table

How a small pledge becomes a real ownership stake.

Every backer walks the same five steps. No middlemen pocketing your money, no perks-only "tip jar" — a regulated path from pledge to equity to payout in outlaw cinema's most underfunded corners.

  1. STEP 01

    You pledge

From $25. No money moves yet — your card is authorized, not charged.

  2. STEP 02

    Held in escrow

Pledges held in a regulated escrow account until the campaign closes.

  3. STEP 03

    Goal hit

If the outlaw film closes funded, your pledge clears. If not, $0 charged.

  4. STEP 04

    Equity issued

You're on the cap table — a real fractional security, not a perk.

  5. STEP 05

    Stream + earn

Watch on Planet Outlaw, get quarterly statements, share in revenue.
